Among the different size categories of LPG ships, the small vessel segment is expected to be the best performer in 2018, while handysize ships will be the worst, according to the latest edition of the LPG Forecaster, published by the global shipping consultancy Drewry (London). As growth rates vary among size segments, Drewry looked into the freight rate prospects of different categories and says it believes handy-size vessels—12,000-25,000 cu meter capacity—will be the worst performers in 2018. Small LPG vessels—1000 to 5000 cu meters—will be the best. Fleet growth will be the main catalyst for their freight rate outlook.
