摘要

To The Editor: Dr Canto and colleagues studied the association of age and sex with myocardial infarction (MI) symptom presentation and mortality and concluded that women were more likely than men to present without chest pain and to die. However, a different public health message than was stated in the abstract or conclusions could have been drawn from the article, based on the text and tables: increasing age was a stronger predictor of MI presentation without chest pain than was female sex, and presentation without chest pain was common in both sexes.
