Braskem expects Delta PP plant to reach full capacity by end of 2021

The polypropylene(PP) plant in La Porte Texas(US),which has nameplate capacity of 450K mt/y,began commercial production on Sept.20.The $750MM facility is able to produce impact copolymers,random copolymers,and homopolymer.In addition,the Delta plant will focus on cost effectiveness instead of producing large volumes of specialty materials.Despite being optimistic about the facility reaching nameplate capacity by the end of 2021,CEO of Braskem America Mark Nikolich notes that the Delta PP plant will likely face challenges such as temporary shutdowns.The company expects to allocate half of the Delta plant's output to North America but will focus on the US market over the next four to six months.Earlier,Brazilian petrochemical firm Braskem had to import PP from its operations in Brazil and Europe for its US operations.
