S&P Global Platts assessed the daily spot Japanese import 99.7% Al P1020/P1020A premium at $83-$93/mt plus London Metal Exchange cash, CIF Japan on Oct. 5, up by $3/mt from Oct. 2. As many end-users in Japan opted for minimum tonnages in their third-quarter and fourth-quarter term contracts, improved demand has pushed them to buy more on the spot market. Several sources said a domestic tender in Japan went at above $100/mt, and it was hard to find offers.
