A delivery unit delivers 85 % pure oxygen and carbon based fuel such as natural gas in stoichiometric proportion, to an airtight furnace (14). A limiting unit limits an excess of oxygen or the carbon based fuel to less than 5 % over the stoichiometric proportion. A control unit controls the fuel combustion to produce flame temperature greater than 4500 [deg] F and an exhaust gas stream of temperature less than 1100 [deg] F. An independent claim is included for furnace.
