Moldova is keen to spin off a gas transportation unit from Moldovagaz, a gas company controlled by Russia's Gazprom, in line with European antimonopoly legislation, in 2017-18. Chisinau regards the split as a solution to dealing with a $750 million portion of Moldova's huge gas debt to Gazprom, Economy Minister Octavian Calmic said in an interview with local media.
