As global infrastructure for the transmission and distribution of natural gas continues to grow rapidly, we must drive for lower Lost And Unaccounted For (LAUF) gas, greater reliability to prevent unplanned interruptions in service, and timely completion of projects that are urgently needed to expand global capacity. The energy industry is trying to address the measurement errors of older technologies that contribute to system imbalances and LAUF. Older metering equipment failures and measurement uncertainty can also cause unplanned interruptions in service. Rigorous calibration procedures that are often required with traditional metering technologies can slow the timely delivery of meters to the installation site.
