LNG investment rush cements ‘boom- and-bust’ cyclicality - LNG-BR

The LNG business is showing signs of “significant” boom-and-bust cyclicality characterised by over-investment that inflates costs, depresses prices and eats into investment returns, according to LNG Business Review. A new feature article [2] in Gas Matters Today’s sister publication highlights the potential for 2019 to be a record year for final investment decisions (FIDs) in liquefaction project investments, with 33 mtpa of capacity already achieving FID since January of a total 193 mtpa seeking to do so this year.
