BTC Blend to make rare South Korea voyage

A cargo of light sweet BTC Blend is heading to South Korea for the frst time in at least three years. The Maran Pythia departed the Ceyhan terminal for South Korea’s Yeosu port with 1mn bl of BTC Blend on 26 September. The grade is in demand in Asia-Pacifc — Taiwan’s state-owned CPC picked up 2mn bl of BTC Blend through a spot tender this week for November-loading or December-arrival crude. The Taiwanese refner took around 47,000 b/d of BTC Blend in January-August, compared with 16,000 b/d last year. And Azeri state- owned Socar’s shipping arm, UML, has booked the Front Cascade to deliver a 1mn bl of BTC Blend to Thailand on 10 October — the third delivery of the grade to the country this year, compared with four across the whole of 2017.
