In normal times, refners would be looking to a bumper period of low crude prices and a seasonal demand spike. But times are far from normal — they are unprec- edented. Economic activity is winding down as governments impose strict measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Aircraft are grounded, personal transport restricted and global trade slowing. Refners are about to be inundated with extra Mideast Gulf crude as demand crashes around their ears.
