Hong Kong looks to reduce sulfur in marine fuel.

According to an official from Hong Kong's Environmental Protection Department (EPD), the agency will shortly submit a proposal to the country's legislature seeking a 0.5% cap on sulfur content in bunker fuel. If passed, the legislation will require ocean-going vessels in Hong Kong waters to reduce the sulfur content in the their fuel from the 3.5% that is the current maximum allowed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), as well as from the 1.5% sulfur marine gasoil that is required by ISO standards for berthing operations.
