Proposals to change the law so that criminal prosecution for a dispensing error; will only be brought in cases where a health professional has acted with intent or negligence have been published by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. The MHRA is seeking views on its proposals as part of an ongoing review of current medicines legislation. It wants to change the law to ensure that prosecution is proportionate and does not compromise patient safety or public health.
