Saudi Arabia tops China crude supplier list

Hong Kong-Saudi Arabia recaptured its position as China's largest crude supplier in September, providing 3.68 million mt (900,750 b/d) of the country's imports for the month, according to figures released by China's General Administration of Customs. Supplies to China by the world's largest crude exporter jumped 51% from August's 2.43 million mt, but remained 9.6% lower than the 4.1 million mt recorded in September 2008. The rise in Saudi Arabian shipments last month was in contrast to a 6.8% fall in China's overall crude imports compared with August. Chinese customs tallied 17.2 million mt of crude imports in September, down from 18.5 million mt in August, but 14.5% higher year on year.
