The long-standing effort to improve corporate governance at Chesapeake Energy took an intriguing twist Friday, with three boardsupported proposals meant to give more power to shareholders failing to receive enough votes to pass. Chesapeake said preliminary results from the company's annual shareholder meeting in Oklahoma City found that three shareholderfriendly proposals received support from 60% of the shares outstanding -- short of the twothirds "supermajority" needed.
