Ireland has awarded 12 companies, in-cluding seven new entrants, a total of 13oil and gas exploration licenses covering15,000 sq km offshore the country’s west-ern Atlantic coast.Irish Natural Resources Minister Pat Rab-bitte said in a statement that the awardsmade as part of the 2011 Atlantic Margin up-stream round comprise one license in theRockall Basin, two in the Slyne Basin, nine li-censes in the Porcupine Basin and one in theGoban Spur Basin. The licenses awarded arelocated in water depths ranging from up to200 meters to more than 2,500 meters andcover 64 full and partial blocks.
