Ireland has awarded 12 companies, in-cluding seven new entrants, a total of 13oil and gas exploration licenses covering15,000 sq km off the country’s westernAtlantic coast.Irish Natural Resources Minister Pat Rab-bitte said the awards made as part of the2011 Atlantic Margin upstream round com-prise one license in the Rockall Basin, two inthe Slyne Basin, nine licenses in the Porcu-pine Basin and one in the Goban Spur Basin.The licenses awarded are located in waterdepths ranging from up to 200 meters (656feet) to more than 2,500 meters and cover64 full and partial blocks.
