Shell Gives Malampaya New Lease on Life

A Royal Dutch Shell-led consortium will devote $1 billion to further development of the aging Malampaya gas field offshore the Philippines. Shell and its partners - Chevron and Philippines National Oil Co. (PNOC) - have submitted a plan detailing the next phase of development for Malampaya, the main producing field in the Philippines, to the Department of Energy. This new phase was kicked off last week by President Be-nigno Aquino while on a visit to the project's gas processing plant in Batangas, operator Shell said.
