Rebates got Stockman in trouble - and out of it

David Stockman got into trouble with criminal prosecutors over supplier rebates. Now, a technicality about the controversial practice has gotten him off the hook. On Jan. 9, the government dropped criminal charges against Stockman and three other former top executives of defunct auto Supplier Collins &AikmanCorp. The four had faced possible prison time for eight counts of fraud and conspiracy to mislead investors and regulators about the state of the interiors supplier.
