The costs of accidents can be immense in terms of human lives lost or injured (both within the battery limits and outside in the surrounding communities), environmental impacts from the uncontrolled release of chemicals, the economic loss to the plant and the supply chain it caters to, and the intangible, but often substantial, loss of reputation.
