China and India to drive growth of halogenated butyl rubber demand from 2010

According to market research estimates of Lanxess, there will be an accelerated increase in halogenated bu-tyl (halobutyl) rubber demand from 2010 onwards, supported by a gradual decrease in regular butyl rubber de-mand due to an increase in the num-ber of radial tyres especially in China and India. "The growth of butyl rubber in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong will continue to be the main driver of glo-bal butyl rubber growth. We expect a 6.3 % compounded annual growth rate.
