Compatibility Study of Butyl Rubber and Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Rubber with theComponents of U.S. Army Liquid Decontamination Solution 2 (DS2)

This report documents the results of the material compatibility study of theliquid components of DS2 and DS2 with butyl rubber (IIR) and ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM). The liquid components of DS2 are diethylene triamine (DETA) and ethylene glycol monomethyl ether (EGMME). This report also documents the baseline information on IIR and EPDM. DS2, developed in the late 1950's, is still the U.S. Army's main chemical and biological agent decontamination (decon) solution.
