A novel device for evaluation of germination of seeds of fodder crops.

A new device for evaluation of seed germination developed in Russia is presented. The device (Russian patent No 2198489) represents a plastic bar with dimensions of 250x150x100 mm and 100 open-end holes with the diameter of 7 mm. The holes are filled with 8% polyacrylamide gel, which is used as support for germinating seeds. Bottom of the gel-filled holes is covered by a sliding tray. At the end of the experiment the tray is removed and used gel is washed out. Technical drawing of the device is given.
