Composition of newly synthesized total and mitochondrial proteins of four winter wheat varieties that differ in frost resistance and hypoxia tolerance were studied. During low temperature adaptation the induction of new polypeptides synthesis with molecular weight 16, 24 and 118 kD, as well as de novo formation enhancement of preexistent polypeptides (22, 35, 54 kD, HSP70, HSP90) in the total protein samples were found. The synthesis of 18, 35 and 57 kD polypepfides, HSP70 and HSP90 was stimulated under submergence conditions. The main changes of newly synthesized mitochondrial proteins spectrum were detected in 71--73 and 82 kD, as well as in 16--18 and 35 kD regions for both factors.
