We report a case of lipoma with lipomatosis of the parotid gland. The patient,a 55-year-old male, presented with a 5 cm-sized elastic-hard mass on the left buccal region. CT and MRI findings suggested lipoma of the parotid gland and superficial parotidectomy was performed. Pathological findings showed a lipoma surrounded by parotid gland with adipose infiltration. The lipoma lesion and the lipomatosis were partially inseparable.Lipomas rarely occur on the parotid gland,They will keep growing, and only surgical excision is effective. Incomplete excision easily causes local recurrence,so superficial parotidectomy may be appropriate.Lipomatosis is a condition where the parotid gland is infiltrated by fat.It is caused by aging, alcoholism, cirrhosis, diabetes and parotiditis.Usually, lipomatosis is asymptomatic and the primary diseases are mainly treated. But in children, lipomatosis cases sometimes show acute progress and recurrence. In these cases, superficial or total parotidectomy is required.
