Introduction of high speed diesel engine with direct injection (RFDI-TD for 626)

In a European market competitive 2L Direct Injection Turbocharged Diesel engine (RFDI-TD) was developed and installed in 626. RFDI-TD was designed and developed aiming clean & high performance powers unit. The design concept is as follows : In Capella (626), Familia (323) range. 1) Excellent fuel consumption, 2) Excellent vehicle performance, 3) The newest marketability. And to realize the concept these technical subjects were solved. 1) DI and better combustion efficiency, 2) Structure of air charging and fuel injection system with linearity to accellaration, 3) Compact design to contribute engine packaging, 4) Less Noise and Vibration, Sure Starting in cold weather, Durable and Reliable. As the result, RFDI-TD installed 626 could contribute to car design concept " Functional & Dynamic "with High-level vehicle performance and fuel consumption, and could have been developed as sufficiently competitive power unit in the same range cars. This paper outlines the developed technology to realize the engine concept.
