摘要

Farmers in Cameroon have managed to grow cocoa successfully on what was on grassland. To convert the grassland into agriculturally productive land which is not really suitable for cultivating cocoa, they intercropped it with food crops and a number ofdifference species of trees.Based on the ecosystem services rendered by such crop association, says CIRAD (the French research centre working with developing countries to tackle international agricultural and development issues), this kind of approach to agroforestry could prove profitable for cocoa-producing countries affected by climate change.
