Plastic surgery in the undergraduate curriculum: A nationwide survey of students, senior lecturers and consultant plastic surgeons in the UK

Dear Sir,Successive editions of Tomorrow's Doctors are shaping medical graduates as generalists more focussed on community care. The undergraduate curriculum influences future career choices, and given that students and doctors misunderstand the work of Plastic Surgeons,2 the margin-alisation of Plastic Surgery from undergraduate training is of growing concern. The need for formal teaching within the curriculum has been previously debated and suggested as vital to the future of the speciality. Therefore, we performed a nationwide survey to investigate the current state of Plastic Surgery education within the UK.
