Sierra Club opposes IGCC plant, but another enviro group favors it

The Sierra Club is appealing a June air permit from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for a 630-MW integrated gasification combined-cycle plant proposed by Christian County Generation, a joint venture between Tenaska and MDL Holdings (PCT 6/5). In the challenge filed last week with the US Environmental Protection Agency's Environmental Appeals Board, the group said Illinois failed to require any pollution controls to limit global warming emissions from the Taylorville Energy Center.
