The advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) consensus model has been discussed in various forums in the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists' (NACNS's) community-at the annual conferences, in print, and online. There have been numerous editorials in this journal explaining the impact of the APRN model for clinical nurse specialist (CNS) regulation, licensure, and practice, as well as an informative blog hosted by Dr Kelly Goudreau on the CNS Journal Web site, http://journals.lww.com/ cns-journal/pages/default.aspx. This move to standardize APRN regulation and licensure will definitely affect CNS curricula, necessitating a complete overhaul of CNS options for some institutions. Possible changes include modifications in CNS option titling, course requirements, and total number of credits; didactic content revisions; and broadening clinical experiences.
