摘要

Parathyroid scintigraphy is probably the best diagnostic and localization technique of parathyroid adenomas in hyperparathyroidism. Nowadays, it is performed mainly with a double-phase and dual-tracer technique using Tc-99m sestamibi. The authors present a case in which intense radiotracer uptake by a parathyroid adenoma and blockade of thyroid uptake by iodized contrast could cause an erroneous interpretation. The use of 2 tracers in several exploratory steps demands a careful technique and the suitable knowledge of the clinical and analytical status of the patient, as well as the therapeutic and/or diagnostic agents that had been recently administered.
