Pharmacokinetics and residual studies of florfenicol following multiple dose oral administration in poultry.

Pharmacokinetics of the antibiotic, florfenicol, in poultry plasma were investigated. Florfenicol was given to poultry at an oral dose of 30 mg kg--1 per day for 5 days. Respective mean values for half life, body clearance and mean vol. of distribution were 8.39 h, 0.5 l h--1 kg--1 and 4.8 l kg--1 after the first dose, and 7.91 h, 0.29 l h--1 kg--1 and 2.70 l kg--1 after the last dose. The overall withdrawal time was calculated to be 72 h.
