Medicare coverage of preventive care services.

To the Editor: The Commentary on health care reform and chronic disease by Drs Laiteerapong and Huang1 described a number of important ways in which chronic diseases in the United States will be affected by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). However, there is one point that we would like to clarify.With respect to section 4106 (improving access to preventive services for eligible adults in Medicaid), the authors stated that the provision "requires coverage of US Preventive Services Task Force grade A and B recommendations . . . More important, this provision eliminates cost sharing for these services."
