Synthesis of substituted 1,4-Benzoxazepin-3-one derivatives

A synthesis of substituted 1,4-benzoxazepin-3-one is describedstarting from salicylaldehyde,aniline and chloroacetyl chloride.Use of 2-bromo-3-phenylpropionyl chloride gave access to 2-benzy-1,4-benzoxazepin-3-one;an addition/elimination sequence afforded the correspondign benzylidene derivative which structure has bene confirmed by an X-Ray analysis.Biphenyl substituents werealso introduced in position -4 of this scaffold.
