LINKAGE AND ASSOCIATION STUDIES OF ANXIETY DISORDERS

Although anxiety disorders have long been a focus of clinical attention, it was not until the latter half of the twentieth century that work investigating animal models[1] and studies in clinical psychopharmacology[2] suggested that biological systems are involved in the regulation of fear processing and anxiety. This research forms a basis for interest in genetic studies of anxiety disorders.
