Using glycerol (H_3gly) as a primary ligand, the decanuclear aggregate [Mn~(II)_2Mn~(III)_2Dy ~(III)_6(μ_3-OH)_2(Hgly) _4(H_2gly)_2(PhCO_2)_(16)(H _2O)_2]·10CH_3CN (1) has been synthesised; it has a structure built up from two Mn_2Dy_2 heterocubane units linked through a central Dy_2(μ-benzoate)_4 paddle-wheel dimer and shows slow relaxation of its magnetisation.
