It is always a challenge to retain competent employees, especially if they possess critical skills (or hot skills). Turnover of these employees is high because they have highly marketable skills often sought after by other firms. For example, many experienced supply chain management and information systems professionals are highly mobile. It is rather easy for them to move from company to company if they are aggressive in pursuing a better compensation package or a more promising career path.
