Overloaded steel prop killed demolition labourer

THE death of a construction labourer crushed by an overloaded steel prop during a departure from planned working practices has landed two demolition firms with fines totalling 115,000 pounds. Ratal Przestrzelski, an employee of demolition subcontractor Bayoak Demo, died in July 2005 during work to remove the 13-storey Telstar House in Paddington, London following fire damage in 2003. Przestrzelski was helping to remove 13 steel Acrow props supporting the remnants of a concrete bridge structure that had linked the office block to a neighbouring building housing a pub.
