PSYCHOLOGISTS have entered the arena to assess the growing problem of stress in the workplace, reveals a report by the University of Nottingham. Stress has become a major cause of absence from work and is now treated at different levels as a mental illness. Professor Tom Cox, director of the University's Institute of Work Health and Organisations (I-WHO), unveiling Britain's innovative stress management toolkit to an international audience at the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology in Oporto, Portugal, said it was set to help managers identify and reduce the risk of stress affecting employees' health and work performance.
