Studies Analyze Merits, Feasibility of Electric Cars; GM Starts Battery Testing

Electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles are not only better for the environment, but they are able to consume energy from the electricity grid efficiently, one can summarize from two recent studies. First, the World Wildlife Fund in its report, "Plugged In- The End of the Age," found that plug-in hybrid vehicles running solely or partly on grid-connected electricity create less greenhouse gas emissions than fossil fuel-powered cars, even if the power grid uses fossil fuels to generate energy. Furthermore, if countries adopt measures utilizing more renewable energy sources to generate electricity, then even more emissions reductions are possible.
