摘要

Onalaska, Washington - In North America at least, there seems to be trend for lower enrolment in basic aquaculture courses offered by high schools and colleges, but the same can not be said for agriculture teacher David Rutherford's Aquacenter at Onalaska High School. Here, about 30 of the school's 360 or so students have signed up to help run the multi-faceted aquaculture program. In a series of different facilities, the Grades 9 and 12 students look after a variety of fishes, taking some from eggto market size. Species raised range from warm-water tilapia and catfish, to lake-reared coho and chum salmon, steelhead and rainbow trout.
