Enbridge considers extension of crude pipeline capacity in Bakken.

The company is looking at options to expand crude pipeline capacity to its projects that are proposed and underway in the US Bakken region. The options were presented at a meeting with shippers on Jan. 10. The options are known as the Sandpiper Scope options, with the first adding 180K b/d of capacity to Steelman, Saskatchewan and 325K b/d to Cromer, Manitoba from Beaver Lodge, North Dakota. The second option would bring 225K b/d of added pipeline capacity, with the option to expand to 325K b/d, to Clearbrook, Minnesota from Beaver Lodge. A final option would be to add a 12-inch (0.31-m), 35-mile (56-km) pipeline from Sanish, North Dakota, which would provide Beaver Lodge with 100K b/d of added capacity. It would also include two 40K~bbl tanks.
