The US Environmental Protection Agency has announced that has approved the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)'s program to issue GHG permits in the state. Since Jan. 2, 2011, industrial projects in Texas resulting in significant greenhouse gas emissions have required a permit from the EPA, as the federal regulator had not approved the state implementation plan (SIP)-in part because the state's position at the time had been that EPA did not have the authority to regulate GHGs at all.
