EPA Agrees to Act on Petitions Related To Texas Power Plants to Settle Lawsuit

The Environmental Protection Agency has agreed to deadlines to act on petitions submitted by the Environmental Integrity Project and the Sierra Club requesting the agency object to permits issued by Texas to three power plants (Environmental Integrity Project v. McCarthy, D.D.C., 14-cv-01196, motion granted 11/12/14). To settle a lawsuit brought by the groups, the agency agreed to sign a response no later than Jan. 23, 2015, to address the petitions asking the EPA to object to the Title V permits issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to Luminant Generating Co. for three of its power plants.
