摘要

Bangkok--Thailand joined the long list of countries that have banned the importation of European beef after the discovery that bovine spongiform encephalopathy, also known as Mad Cow Disease, had spread to cattle beyond Britain. The ban, issued by the Ministry of Public Health, bars the importation of beef from eight European countries: Britain, Ireland, Germany, France, Portugal, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The importation of milk and milk products will be allowed to continue. However, the importation of gelatin products will require a special certificate from the country of origin ensuring it is infection tree. The certificate must be issued by the government agency, or private agency, charged with inspecting the product.
