Little Bits of Wisdom From Scale Business 101

Richard Sharpe, president of ISWMand also Intelligent Weighing Technologies has received much advice that he passes along, including some wisdom about advice: "A wise man always listens to advice. He doesn't have to take it but he is wise to listen." From his father: "If you don't trust someone, don't deal with or employ the person." He reports that the only time he bent this rule he regretted it. And from his dear wife Paula Sharpe who is well known in the industry as well: "If you can't do business in the ethical way, don't bother." Which brings us to often-quoted advice that has proven true in many circumstances: "What goes around, comes around." Which can also be paraphrased "You reap what you sow." In other words, goodwill, fair treatment and high ethical standards will be returned many times over in good-will, fair treatment and equally high standards. Another little bit of advice along the same lines (quoting my dear old Mom) is "Birds of a feather flock together." People are always attracted to others with similar standards and strengths or weaknesses. How could good old Mom be wrong?
