Hyposidra talaca (Walker) - a destructive pest of tea in Dooars tea plantations

One looper species, Hyposidra talaca (Walker) (Lepidoptera: Geometridae) is recorded for the first time as a destructive pest in the Dooars tea plantations in North East India. Hyposidra talaca was found to be a major defoliating pest of tea (Camellia sinensis, (L) O. Kuntze) in Dooars. Besides tea, this species was collected from different weeds including an unidentified one, different forest trees and ornamental plants.
