Spain - One of Europe's leading seat manufacturer's, Fainsa (Fabrication Asientos Vehiculos Industriales SA) of Barcelona has developed and launched a patented and, what is claimed, revolutionary three-point safety belt system, featuring an automatic height adjustment system that can be used by passengers of all sizes and ages from three years and up. The new system features an elongated holding clasp on the side of the seat from which the shoulder belt can be slid down over the shoulder at the required height of the passenger. This means that the seat belt can be used in the correct position by both adults and children. The Fainsa Universal Safety belt, as it so called, has already been incorporated into Fainsa's Gala seat model; its luxury coach seat and is currently being developed for its other range of seats in the market place. Fainsa developed the Universal Safety belt together with Spain's Technological Institute Foundation for Automotive Safety (FITSA). The belt has undergone numerous dynamic tests including where seats with dummies in-situ are fitted to a cross-section of a coach and then mounted on a platform on a trolley which is then launched against a sold wall at 33km/hr.
