This paper provides a closed-form derivation for the surface normal displacement at an arbitrary point on an elastic half-space subjected to linearly varying normal surface pressure over an arbitrarily shaped triangular region. For the special case of an equilateral triangle, the resulting displacements are shown to vanish at infinity, and the results agree with those obtained using numerical quadrature and with previously published solutions.
