摘要

A common finding in patients with myocardial infarction is an impaired function in the fibrinolytic system, mainly due to increased mass concentration of tPA and PAI-1 in plasma [1 ] which are considered as primary risk factors of cardiovascular disease [2]. Hemostasis has been proposed as a possible pathogenetic factor in dementia, especially vascular dementia [3-5]. To our knowledge there is only one study by Mari et al [3] in which endothelial derived fibrinolytic markers and vWF have been evaluated in AD vs. VaD patients.Increased level of vWF was found to be a predictor of cardiovascular events in survivors of myocardial infarction, suggesting its relation to atherosclerosis and/or increased risk of thromboembolic complications [6]. Disturbances of fibrinolysis and vWF may reflect endothelial dysfunction and/or damage, an important feature of atherosclerotic pathophysiology [2,7-10].
