摘要

In severely injured or septic patients, various inflammatory mediators are released that impact microvascular fluid permeability. Previous work from our laboratory has centered on the endothelial-derived mediators endothelin-1 (ET-1), angiotensin II (Ang II), and platelet-activating factor (PAF).1'2 ET-1 decreases fluid leak from postcapillary venules, while PAF and Ang II increase fluid leak.3~5 Despite studies on the effects of these factors, the intracellular mechanisms involved with changes in microvascular fluid permeability have not been elucidated.
